Think you have most things sorted, how about your passport? Got one? Is it in date?
Just imagine the embarrassment of getting to the airport, ready to check in and oops! your passport is out of date or even worse you forgot to get one. Believe me many people do it, (not mentioning my aunties name) who didn't realise that you needed a passport to even fly to Ireland!
Yes even for a day trip abroad you must hold a full ten-year passport and some countries even have an immigration requirement. This means your passport must remain valid for a minimum period usually at least 6 months beyond the date of entry to the country.
So beware you have been warned!
So thinking you'd better perhaps get a new one well it couldn't been simpler:
* you can either drop into the following Passport Offices you will find one in London, Belfast, Glasgow, Newport, Peterborough and Liverpool to get an application form, want the address click here.
* or pop into a main Post Office/World Choice Travel Agents to get an application form, to find your nearest one click here.
* or simply take a few minutes to complete an online application form click here.
If you are applying to replace a lost or stolen passport then there are a few simple things to keep in mind check them out by clicking here.
Be aware though that it can take a couple of weeks to process a new passport and sometimes even longer during busy periods for example leading up to school holidays so try and not leave it to the last minute.
Ok if by chance you thought buying beachwear (Speedo's Nice!) was more worthy than buying a passport and your holiday is approaching fast then you had better pull your finger out and click here if you are travelling within 2 weeks and click here if you are thinking of travelling within 48 hours.
The price of standard 10-year passport is £30, however this can increase depending on the time limit of when it is needed and most agencies ask for a £5 handling fee.
Any problems, questions or queries pick up the phone and dial the passport Advice line on 0870 521 0410 which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
